Indian Pacific

Indian Pacific is an Australian Indie Rock Band based in Sydney, Australia.  Founded in 2018 by singer songwriter Charlie Wells as a musical vehicle to record and perform his ever-increasing catalogue of songs and demos.  The band solidified over several years, through various jams sessions and rehearsals until a regular line up emerged in 2020. The name Indian Pacific was derived from Wells being born and bred in Perth but spending most of his adult life living on the East Coast of Australia. From the Indian Ocean to the Pacific Ocean… Indian Pacific.

Indian Pacific combines rock, folk rock, western, surf rock and pop melodies with occasional soundtrack and atmospheric overtones.  Jangly guitars over synth driven layers of sound, combined with catchy vocal melodies. A hybrid of 80s synth bands and twangy indie rock.

The band recalls the sound of: War on Drugs, Wilco, R.E.M. Big Star, The Triffids, The Cure The Go Betweens and The National to name a few.
